About the Authors

Sejal and Rachel, both former school counselors, understood the need for culturally responsive services in schools to better support all students and their cultural identities. Through engagement in the Urban School Counseling Collaborative, they came together to create the Culturally Responsive School Counseling Instrument (CRSCI). 

Sejal Parikh Foxx, Ph.D.

Dr. Foxx is a Professor and Counseling Department Chair at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte). She is also the Director of the Urban School Counseling Collaborative. She is co-author of School Counseling in the 21st Century, 6th ed. In 2015, she received the Counselor Educator of the Year Award from the North Carolina School Counselors Association.

Rachel Saunders, Ph.D.

Dr. Saunders is a Research Fellows at Clemson University. She is a former Assistant Professor and School Counselor Program Coordinator at the University of Cincinnati. She is also a member of the Urban School Counseling Collaborative. â€‹In 2022, she received the Outstanding Teacher Award from the North Central Association of Counselor Education and Supervision Association.
